SAIC-GM-Wuling’s Baojun 510 New Global Cars Are Shipped to South America from Guangzhou Port for the First Time

On July 24, 542 Baojun 510 new global cars produced by SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co., Ltd. gathered at No. 10 Berth in Xinsha, Guangzhou Port to be exported to South America on the GLOVIS “Classic” ro/ro ship.

SAIC-GM-Wuling started its vehicle export business in Guangzhou Port as early as 2009. Since last year, SAIC-GM-Wuling has taken Guangzhou Port as a base for exporting Baojun cars to South America. According to statistics, from January to July 2020, SAIC-GM-Wuling's total vehicle exports in Guangzhou Port increased by 160% on a year-on-year basis as an automobile brand with the largest export volume.

In order to ensure smooth shipment during the COVID-19 period, Xinsha Company made a shipment plan in advance, and Xinsha Customs and other relevant port departments strictly took various prevention and control measures, with prompt quarantine on board for instant customs clearance, so as to ensure timely unloading and loading of the ship. In this way, the task of loading a total of 878 commercial vehicles onto the ship was successfully completed.

In the first half of this year, in accordance with the general work instructions of Guangzhou Port Group, Xinsha Company, with the strong support of the port authorities, not only did well in the prevention and control of COVID-19, but also overcame the huge pressure on the storage yard at the beginning of the COVID-19 period, strengthening internal communication to improve quality and efficiency and carrying out precise marketing with better services. It created favorable conditions for hinterland enterprises’ resumption of work and production and export through close communication with OEMs and logistics providers. In March of this year, SAIC-GM-Wuling successfully entered the Middle East market with the help of the newly launched “K” LINE ro/ro liner route, giving a further impetus to the continuous growth of the commodity vehicle export business of Guangzhou Port.
