On March 4, the “Huanglong” Ship carrying 67,300 tons of coal successfully berthed at Guanggang Terminal in Guangzhou Port Maoming Bohe New Port Area. The successful berthing of the foreign trade ship marked Maoming City’s implementation of the foreign trade business through the construction of a deep-water general terminal. The successful berthing of the foreign trade ship means that a foreign trade channel has been opened up for Maoming, providing a more convenient logistics transportation path for the bulk import and export business of enterprises in Maoming, and reducing logistics costs.

 

It is reported that this is the first foreign trade ship berthing at the terminal since Maoming Guanggang Terminal obtained the temporary port opening permit on November 10, 2020. It will greatly enhance the market competitiveness of Maoming Port, enable Maoming City to further implement the strategy of "Building a deep-water port and developing modern industries to become a new coastal city" and promote the high-quality development of the regional economy, which is of great significance for the integration of Maoming City into the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" and the implementation of such national strategies as “Accelerating the high-quality development of the west wing of the coastal economic belt”.

 

The ship arriving at the port this time is a 70,000-dwt Panamax ship, which departed from Indonesia to supply goods to the enterprises in Maoming City. Maoming municipal government, customs, maritime safety administration and border inspection station have given strong support to Maoming Bohe New Port by organizing coordination meetings and supervising and confirming the conditions for the first berthing at the terminal on the spot.

 

It is learned that in the next step, Guanggang Terminal will speed up the construction of the Project of Designated Supervision Site for Imported Grain, Terminal Phase II Project, Railway Project and other projects, so as to turn Guanggang Terminal into a model port and first-class terminal open to the outside world in western Guangdong.
