Remote Tally of Foreign Ships by the Nansha Intelligent Container Tally System for the Prevention and Control of COVID-19

Recently, the newly built Nansha Area Intelligent Container Tally Center of Guangzhou Ocean Shipping Tally Co., Ltd. was officially put into use. With a standardized layout and beautiful environment, the tally center operates efficiently. The use of the intelligent tally system allows the tally staff to complete the loading and tally operations without boarding the ship, thereby reducing the face-to-face contact between the tally staff and the ship personnel for the prevention and control of COVID-19.

The intelligent container tally system is a system to automatically control the high-definition cameras on such handling equipment as quay cranes and gantry cranes with its linkage controller through control signals to accurately capture all sides of the container, based on which AI identification of such tally elements as container number, container size, trailer number, container position and loading and stowage position is done under the video flow analysis technology, with the identification results and structured data being transmitted to the background for automatic verification and automatic release to complete the tally operation.

It is learned that due to the difficulties and pressure brought by COVID-19 in 2020, Guangzhou Ocean Shipping Tally Co., Ltd. made great efforts to accelerate digital progress to obtain such phased achievements as ongoing application of Huangpu portal cranes in intelligent container tally, full coverage of intelligent container tally of the Nansha Port Area Phase III Project and the in-dept integration of the construction of automatic terminal. In 2021, on the basis of intelligent tally of the Huangpu and Nansha Phase III Projects, Guangzhou Ocean Shipping Tally Co., Ltd. will continue to promote the full coverage of intelligent tally of the Nansha Phase II Project, and make preparations for the construction of the automatic terminal of the Nansha Phase IV Project.
