On October 15, K-LINE’s vessel “Galveston Express” slowly dropped its ramp at Nansha Automobile Terminal, and 1,012 SAIC-GM-Wuling cars and 34 sets of equipment entered the cabin to wait for their voyage to Mexico. It is the first “Central and North America” ro/ro route that Nansha Automobile Terminal has ushered in following the Middle East, Europe, Southeast Asia and South America routes, and also the third ro/ro route of K-LINE at Nansha Automobile Terminal.

Nansha Automobile Terminal is located in the geometric center of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Nansha Free Trade Zone, enjoying superior geographical and policy advantages. Haijia Automobile Terminal and Nansha Automobile Terminal have jointly built the “Nansha Automobile Terminal” interconnection and sharing platform to provide safe and efficient full supply chain services for the ro/ro business of commercial vehicles.

It is reported that, in order to help domestic vehicle manufacturers to further expand the international market, Nansha Customs, a subsidiary of Guangzhou Customs, has established a “packaged” customs clearance service mechanism to realize one-stop consultation and all-round answering of questions for enterprises at the window, provide 24-hour appointment service for customs clearance, guide export enterprises to “declare in advance”, and implement “immediate inspection upon arrival of ships” for ro/ro ships calling at Nansha Automobile Terminal, so as to maximize the efficiency of customs clearance.

The successful launch of K-LINE’s first Central and North America route was strongly supported by the Guangzhou Port Authority, Nansha District Port Office, Nansha Customs, Maritime Affairs Department, Border Inspection Department, and shareholders. All joint inspection units have implemented efficient inspection and release, and “priority arrangement, priority berthing and priority operation” for foreign trade import and export business, which has laid a solid foundation for the high-quality operation of the commercial vehicle foreign trade business.

According to statistics, since the first foreign trade ro/ro route was launched at Nansha Automobile Terminal in December 2020, SAIC-GM-Wuling has exported a total of 10,298 commercial vehicles. (Text by Qiu Zhuolei and Chen Yingjian, Picture by Zhang Qian)
