China’s First Ship Loaded with Brazilian Bulk Orange Fiber Granules Lands at Guangzhou Port (Picture)

A few days ago, the bulk liner “Galaxy No. 2” from Brazil successfully arrived at New Port Area of Guangzhou Port. The 20,000 tons of imported bulk orange fiber granules on board were handled after inspection and quarantine to be quickly delivered to domestic feed enterprises.

This is China’s first ship with bulk orange fiber granules imported from Brazil since the General Administration of Customs issued an announcement to allow the import of Brazilian orange fiber granules that meet the relevant quarantine requirements, which further broadens the quantity and categories of foreign trade grain imported by China from the “Belt and Road” countries.

It is known that “orange fiber granules” are a new type of feed fillers made of the remaining part of citrus fruits after juicing, including peel, pulp and seeds. As they can become green additives in feed production to promote growth, increase feed conversion rate and improve carcass quality, they are widely used in the breeding of dairy cows, beef cattle, live pigs and poultry.

Since this year, New Port Area, in order to meet the market changes and play the role of port hub, has actively served the surrounding core enterprises, optimized the supply structure, improved the operation technology and raised its service quality. It has achieved a steady increase in cargo throughput and increased the natural tons of grain by 27% on a year-on-year basis from January to October. In order to improve the import service for the “orange fiber granules” on the first ship, New Port Area attached great importance to it and arranged specially-assigned personnel for coordination and communication. Relevant personnel planned the receiving and discharging in advance according to the characteristics, loading methods and receiving and discharging requirements of goods, and made thoughtful arrangements on the discharging operation, plane transportation and yard storage to create an exclusive operation process for the receiving, discharging, storage and departure of goods. They safely and efficiently received and discharged foreign trade grain on the whole ship, which was fully recognized by customers.

According to the customer engaged in the import trade of the goods, they had visited the surrounding areas for many times before the goods arrived at the port. Considering the good customs clearance environment and the convenient operation and transportation conditions of the New Port Area, as well as its high-quality service and good reputation, they chose New Port as the destination port; they will make more cooperation to extend the trade of new types and categories of high-quality goods to the Pearl River Delta region, so as to further meet the agricultural products demands of grain enterprises in the region.
