On 26th, April, 2004, Guangzhou Port opens a new page. Approved by Guangzhou Municipal Government, the former Guangzhou Harbor Bureau is transformed and constituted to Guangzhou Port Group Co., Ltd according to the request of modern enterprise system.
Guangzhou Port Group Co., Ltd is a state-owned company of limited liability with legal person qualification. It is the major operator of Guangzhou Port. Guangzhou Port Group Co., Ltd governs four port areas including Downtown, Huangpu, Xinsha and Nansha Port Areas, with fifty 10,000 tonnage class berths for the handling of coal, oil, container, auto, grain, building material and general cargo. Among these, there are 21 berths of more than 50,000 tonnage class, 13 buoy berths of more than 10,000 tonnage class and 23 handling anchorages of 10,000 tonnage class. The maximum anchoring capability is 300,000 tons.
