As the largest comprehensive hub port in South China, Port of Guangzhou grows by leaps and bounds with its fast growing hinterlands’ economy. In 1999, Port of Guangzhou broke its annual throughput record of 100 million tons, to be the second port in Mainland China with such achievement. Afterwards, the port was making great progress year by year. In 2009, the whole Guangzhou Port accomplished cargo throughput of 364 million tons(ranking the 6th of the world) and container throughput of 11.2million TEUs (ranking the 6th of the world), among which Guangzhou Port Group acomplished 250million tons and 8.72 million TEUs.
