Two Innovation Achievements of Guangzhou Port Group Wins National Awards (Picture)

Recently, in the 20th National Transportation Enterprise Management Modernization Innovation Achievement Contest, GCT's "Digital Transformation and Intelligent Upgrade Application Management" innovation achievements and "Low-Carbon Transformation and Green Development Practice Management" innovation achievements won the second and third prizes respectively. Guangzhou Port's active exploration and practice in the field of green and low-carbon logistics promoted the port's digital and intelligent transformation as well as the construction of a green and smart port, contributing to achieving peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality.

Deep Integration of Informatization and Production

With the innovative technological applications and significant management results, Digital Transformation and Intelligent Upgrade Application Management stood out from numerous participating projects , and won the second prize.
By systematizing the entire production process, transforming technology into new quality productive forces and developing and applying many information management systems such as the field bridge AI video anti-collision&correction system, the shore bridge AI video anti-collision&smashing system, the comprehensive tractor management system, the visual management system for cranes and the intelligent container yard shift rate reduction system, GCT has achieved the deep integration with the production process.
With support of information technology, a “Smart Eye” is provided for port safety supervision to monitor and analyze production operations in the port area in real time and give warnings; production scheduling is more efficient and intelligent, and the storage and retrieval of containers in the yard can be accelerated while the container yard shift rate is reduced. The electric equipment automatically implements the optimal charging plan to ensure sufficient transportation capacity in the port area; equipment management is safer and more reliable, achieving visualized full lifecycle management of equipment, with clear information of component maintenance, remaining life, etc. The maintenance needs can be reduced by improving the maintenance quality.

Science and Technology Lead “Green” Development of Ports

Firmly pursuing the core concept of "Green, Low-Carbon and Sustainable Development", GCT actively participates in the green transformation and upgrading of the port, and contributes to the construction of a sustainable logistics ecology. By means of detailed show of the widespread deployment of electric equipment in the entire logistics chain by GCT/GPL and the comprehensive and multi-dimensional exploration and implementation of carbon reduction measures "Low-carbon Transformation and Green Development Practice Management" has successfully led to a significant reduction in carbon emissions, showing GCT's determination and effectiveness in green transformation, and won the third prize.
By changing from oil into electricity for gantry cranes, achieving a 100% electrification rate of large and key loading and unloading machinery and investing in new energy tractors, electric stackers, extended-range front carriers and other equipment, GCT has gradually promoted the electrification of circulating machines, optimized the energy structure and achieved the active carbon reduction. The "Front Port, Back Warehouse" and "Highway-Railway-Waterway" multi-modal transport modes with GPL have achieved the seamless integration between ports and warehouses, improved logistics efficiency, formed an efficient and environmentally friendly green collection and distribution system, and reduced the energy consumption and carbon emissions during transportation.

Focuses on Energy Saving and Emission Reduction to Promote Implementation of Dual Carbon Strategy

GCT integrates digital and intelligent technologies into the energy-saving technology transformation process by upgrading and reforming the high-voltage cabinets and monitoring systems of power stations, using data analysis and prediction to reduce the heavy container shift rate, etc., in order to improve the work efficiency, optimize the equipment operation, and reduce the energy consumption due to ineffective operation. In addition, GCT has built the high and low voltage shore power facilities to reduce the ship exhaust emissions and noise pollution, and improve the air quality in the port area and surrounding areas. According to the actual needs, employees' commuting methods were adjusted promptly, and urban transportation was replaced by the transportation from the subway stations. Many effective measures were implemented, such as the design of large truck oil receiving pans for old docks, the vigorous promotion of LED lighting fixtures, the optimization of steel wire rope replacement processes, the changing from oil into electricity for the hydraulic system, the secondary treatment and recycling of oil-polluted water, and the use of environmentally friendly materials to replace the traditional materials with a high pollution level.
