Asia-Pacific Media Delegation Visits Guangzhou Port's Nansha Port Area, Experiencing the Openness and Dynamism of the Smart Mega Port

On the eve of the Asia-Pacific Media Forum (APMF), a delegation of more than 150 media representatives from APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) economies and major Chinese media outlets toured Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Zhongshan and other cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, immersing themselves in the vitality of the region's high-quality development. The delegation recently visited the Nansha Phase IV fully automated terminal and the Nansha International Logistics Center (Nansha Cold Chain) in Guangzhou Port's Nansha Port Area, watching at first hand how the world's first fully automated river-sea-rail multimodal transport terminal and one of China's largest port-adjacent warehouse clusters are built and run.

As the core hub of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's world-class port cluster, Guangzhou Port's Nansha Port Area has long attracted close attention from media across the Asia-Pacific region. On this visit, many major domestic and overseas outlets treated the Nansha Port Area as a key case study in the Greater Bay Area's opening up. At the terminal, the media representatives watched automated quay cranes and intelligent guided vehicles (IGVs) at work and learned how the terminal's homegrown "5G + BeiDou" fully automated operating system runs. At the Nansha Cold Chain warehouse, they toured its warehousing, distribution and bonded logistics operations and viewed featured import and export products. The visit gave them a close-up view of the port's achievements in smart and green development, and a deeper understanding of Guangzhou Port's pivotal role in serving the domestic and international dual circulation and connecting Asia-Pacific trade and economic exchange. Many overseas journalists filmed footage and gathered material on site, and talked with staff about smart ports, the growth of the port-adjacent logistics industry and related topics.
