Guangzhou Port Sinotrans Automotive Supply Chain Co., Ltd. ("Guangzhou Port Sinotrans"), a joint venture between Guangzhou Port Co., Ltd. ("Guangzhou Port Co.") and Sinotrans South China Co., Ltd. ("Sinotrans South China"), was officially unveiled recently in Nansha, Guangzhou. Those attending the ceremony included Zhong Weibin, Director of the Nansha District Bureau of Commerce; Liu Xiao, Deputy Director General of Nansha Customs; Huang Bo, Chairman of Guangzhou Port Group Co., Ltd. ("Guangzhou Port Group"); Zhang Yi, Chairman of Sinotrans Limited. ("Sinotrans"); Zheng Lingtang, General Manager of Guangzhou Port Co.; and Wang Jian, Deputy General Manager of Sinotrans and General Manager of Sinotrans South China.

 

This alliance of two strong players is a significant move by Guangzhou Port Group and Sinotrans to deepen their strategic cooperation in ports and shipping, build depth in the automotive supply chain, and strengthen the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's service network for automobile exports. Using the joint venture as a base, the two sides will create a forum bringing together automakers, shipping lines and upstream and downstream customers, and expand full-chain automotive import and export business.

 

China has been the world's largest automobile exporter for three years running, with exports reaching 7 million units in 2025, and demand is rising for efficient, stable and transparent end-to-end cross-border supply chain services. Now established, Guangzhou Port Sinotrans will target the market's pain points precisely and comprehensively upgrade its integrated service capability for automobile exports.

 

Guangzhou Port Sinotrans combines the strengths of both shareholders in a three-in-one "Port + Logistics + Supply Chain" specialist service model. On the port side, it draws on the nationally leading ro-ro terminal clusters at Guangzhou Port Co.'s two core port areas, Nansha and Xinsha, to anchor the Greater Bay Area's hub for automobile exports. On the logistics side, Sinotrans brings its core strengths — 879 business locations across China and an international service network spanning 45 countries and regions — to connect the whole chain from vehicle plants to overseas end markets.

 

Speaking at the ceremony, Zhong Weibin said that on the strength of the exceptional port facilities, shipping routes and hub advantages of the Nansha automobile port of entry, Nansha has built a complete industrial system spanning vehicle import and export, parts collection and distribution, warehousing and logistics, and supply chain services, making it South China's most important automobile import and export hub and a leading industrial cluster. The Nansha District Government, he said, will continue to implement the policy benefits of the Nansha Plan thoroughly and in detail, keep improving a market-oriented, law-based and internationalized business environment, and do everything it can to help enterprises put down roots in Nansha and grow stronger.

 

At the unveiling ceremony, Wang Jian said the joint venture is an important result of deeper, more substantial cooperation between the two sides, and a new way of putting "port-shipping linkage, supply chains connecting the world" into practice. He set out three hopes: stronger corridors, integrating the two sides' resources to make logistics corridors steadily more reliable; better services, through standardized, integrated automotive supply chain solutions; and a bigger ecosystem, building a more resilient supply chain for automobile exports.

 

In his address, Zheng Lingtang said the formation of Guangzhou Port Sinotrans is a significant step in deepening collaboration among state-owned enterprises, serving the real economy and helping the Greater Bay Area's automotive industry go global. He hoped the new company would put down roots in Nansha, serve the wider industry, work with partners to build a win-win ecosystem, and set a benchmark for automotive supply chain joint ventures in China. Guangzhou Port Co. will give the new company its full support.

 

At the business presentation session, Guangzhou Port Sinotrans set out its core strengths and business plan. Drawing on the two port areas and Sinotrans' global network, the joint venture will open up an automotive logistics corridor from factory to overseas market, with end-to-end visibility through a digital operations platform. Next, it will launch five core products — cross-border vehicle logistics, integrated "port + logistics" services, port collection and distribution, dedicated services for new energy vehicles, and used car exports — covering the full range of needs across the automotive supply chain.
