The First Cargo Based on Sea-rail Through Bill of Lading Shipped from Nansha Port South Railway Station (Picture)

“Oriental Katini” Ship loaded with Ganzhou furniture containers slowly departed from Nansha Port Area and sailed to Penang, Malaysia on March 15. The cargo based on sea-rail intermodal transport through bill of lading transferred by Guangzhou Port through Nansha Port South Railway Station were successfully shipped, marking the smooth opening of the new export path based on “Ganzhou-Nansha-Southeast Asia” sea-rail transport.

Ganzhou is an important hinterland for the sea-rail intermodal transport of Guangzhou Port. Guangzhou Port and COSCO Shipping have jointly planned a new export path based on “Ganzhou-Nansha-Southeast Asia” sea-rail intermodal transport in advantage of the high speed and favorable price of sea-rail intermodal transport, so as to provide a two-way import and export channel connecting Ganzhou and other inland areas. It takes as short as 48 hours to drive from Ganzhou International Port to Nansha Port South Railway Station, which makes the sea-rail intermodal transport done as fast as road transport. With the support of Ganzhou Municipal Government’s “three sames” policy and the application for lowering railway rate, the cost of inland transport is nearly 33% lower than that of road transport.

The furniture industry in Nankang District is a “business card” of Ganzhou. After more than 20 years of development, it has gradually developed into a national large-scale furniture production and wholesale base, and served as the pillar industry for Ganzhou’s economic development. With the new logistics mode of “one order to the end + one bill for settlement + one entrustment + one quotation” of the sea-rail intermodal transport through bill of lading of Guangzhou Port, the furniture industry in Nankang District has realized “buying wood globally and selling furniture globally”.

It is learned that since the opening of Nansha Port South Railway Station on February 8, Guangzhou Port has taken the lead in launching the uplink trains to Jiangmen North Railway Station and Ganzhou, and actively arranged the downlink trains connecting Nansha from the mainland. Through the network and functions of inland port offices in Jiangxi, Hunan, Sichuan and Chongqing, Guangzhou Port Logistics Company actively keeps in touch with local governments, ship owners and customers by sending the latest news of Nansha Port Railway in real time to attract customers to try the new logistics channel based on sea-rail intermodal transport. Nansha Port South Railway Station had shipped more than 1,200 TEUs of plate, grain, newsprint and other goods by March 15. (Text by Yu Wen; Picture by Li Xiang)
