“Two-bay Express” to be Launched through A Cooperation Agreement Signed by Guangzhou Port Group and Guangxi Beibu Gulf Port Group (Picture)


Recently, Guangzhou Port Group and Guangxi Beibu Gulf Port Group signed a cooperation framework agreement on "Two-gulf Express” at the 19th China-ASEAN Expo, so as to give full play to the resource advantages of the two port groups, build a new channel for import and export of goods, and reduce comprehensive logistics costs of customers in their ports to achieve win-win cooperation.


With a vast economic hinterland, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area provides essential support for the construction of the “Belt and Road”. Connecting with the west region and facing the countries of ASEAN, the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone has the unique advantage of "one bay connected to eleven countries". The "two-bay” industries have the demand power and win-win space for joint development.


“Two-bay Express” will take Nansha Port and Qinzhou Port as hub centers to build a convenient and efficient maritime logistics channel between the two bays. The launch of the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area - Beibu Gulf Economic Zone” container shipping route will further enhance the efficiency of the “two-bays” logistics supply chain, promote business cooperation between Guangzhou Port Group and Guangxi Beibu Gulf Group, and drive regional economic development.

Ye Yinlong, Deputy Director of the Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce, Dou Xilin, Second Inspector of the Department of Commerce of Guangxi Autonomous Region, Xie Xiaohui, Vice Chairman of the Political Consultative Conference and Director of the Commerce Bureau of Guangzhou Nansha Economic and Technological Development Zone, Huang Baoyuan, Member of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman and Deputy General Manager of Beibu Gulf Port Group , Zheng Lingtang, Deputy General Manager of Guangzhou Port Co., Ltd. and other leaders attended the event and witnessed the signing of the framework agreement.


Feng Weidong, Secretary of the Party Committee, Executive Director and General Manager of Guangzhou Port Shipping Co., Ltd., and Li Tailin, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Guangxi Beibu Gulf Port Logistics Co., Ltd., signed the cooperation framework agreement.

According to the agreement, Guangzhou Port Group and Guangxi Beibu Gulf Port Group will set up a  coordination team, which establishes a coordination and communication mechanism, further leverage their respective advantages in port operation, route layout, etc., make full use of the resource advantages of the hinterland and foreign trade routes of the two ports, increase the investment in route resources between the two ports, and build a sophisticated “Two-bay Express” container shipping route to realize the two-way flow of the “Two-bay” cargo sources and introduce new channels for increasing the cargo in two ports.


Based on the national strategy of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the development opportunities of the construction of the “Belt and Road” and the new western land-sea corridor, the two parties will give play to the advantages of the “Two Bays” as core areas to achieve seamless connection with “Two-bay Express” through the central and western inland ports and multimodal transport, improve the level of interconnection between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone, and drive the economic development of the central and western hinterland through industrial clusters in the bay areas, thus making better contribution to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the "Belt and Road" and the construction of China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
