The launch of the "Guangzhou Nansha Port - Shantou Port” branch line is an important measure for Guangzhou Port to thoroughly implement the new regional development pattern of "One Core, One Belt and One Zone” in Guangdong Province, and to strengthen the economic and trade exchanges between the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area and eastern Guangdong. The service frequency of the “Nansha Port - Shantou Port” branch line is three voyages a week, and the interconnection between Nansha Port Area and Shantou Port is realized through the international transit mode.

 

Shantou Port is one of the 15 key ports under construction according to “the Belt and Road” Initiative. It is an important node for eastern Guangdong to connect with the "Maritime Silk Road" and integrate into the domestic and international dual cycle development artery. It is also the bridgehead for eastern Guangdong to integrate into the synergetic development of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area and the coastal economic zone. Guangzhou Port is located at the strategic intersection of “the Belt and Road” and the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, with the important mission of building a high-level portal hub for opening-up in the new era. The launch of the “Nansha Port - Shantou Port” branch line will help to realize the complementarity of route network resources between the two ports, and promote the deepening of exchanges and cooperation between them.
