Sea-rail Transport Capacity at Guangzhou Port Hits a Record Heigh in July (Picture)

In mid-summer July, in a vigorous trend, sea-rail transport capacity at Guangzhou Port hit more than 53,000 TEUs in a single month, bringing the monthly record to a higher level and pushing ahead with the effort to catch up with the annual task. According to statistics, from January to July of this year, the cumulative completed sea-rail transport capacity at Guangzhou Port increased by 35.7% on a year-on-year basis.

Guangzhou Port Group and China Railway Guangzhou Group Join Hands for Joint Marketing

Since this year, Guangzhou Port Group and China Railway Guangzhou Group have continued their further cooperation to intensify their joint marketing efforts. Both sides have joined hands to hold the customer promotion meetings and train launching ceremonies in Nanchang, Xiangyang, Meizhou and other places successively.

In July, Zhongshan Huangpu Intercity Train made a breakthrough in transport capacity, further opening up and consolidating the conventional hinterland market. In addition, railway business expanded to Fujian has also made diversified development of sea-rail transport more vigorous.

In response to the demand for ores from steel mills in northern Guangdong, with keen insight, Guangzhou Port has launched bulk-to-container trains for ores rapidly, and operated them normally and stably, effectively alleviating the pressure of road transport, reducing logistics costs and winning high praise from customers. China Railway Guangzhou Group has responded to market demand and invested in various container types, such as 35-ton dry bulk containers, 35-ton general-purpose containers, soybean meal container and tank containers, to meet customers' personalized service needs in a way that guarantees expansion of "bulk-to-container" cargo categories and further enhances the brand competitiveness of sea-rail transport at Guangzhou Port.

Promote Transformation Through Cooperation Mechanism Innovation and Information Empowerment

To further improve the efficiency and service quality of sea-rail transport, Guangzhou Port Group and China Railway Guangzhou Group have continuously innovated the cooperation mechanism; through a series of effective measures such as joint office, system interconnection and information sharing, they have promoted the integrated production organization of sea-rail transport, accelerated their integration and development and jointly built a new condition of sea-rail transport.

At present, the docking of multimodal transport system at Guangzhou Port, TOS system in Nansha Port South Station and Guangzhou Railway cloud platform system has yielded certain results. Nansha Port South Station is one of the major milestones of strategic cooperation between Guangzhou Port Group and China Railway Guangzhou Group. In the Station, the whole process of container transfer from the terminal to train has been managed systematically and tracked dynamically, operation process and internal management have been optimized, and operation efficiency and service quality have been improved remarkably. That means a solid stride towards the digital and intelligent transformation of sea-rail transport.

Improve Capabilities and Plan on a New Blueprint for Development in East Coast

As Guangzhou Port plans on a schedule to improve railway logistic capacity of the east coast, it places emphasis on boosting the facility renovation and capacity improvement projects in Xingang port area and Xinsha port area.

Through such measures as line upgrading and site storage capacity expansion, the operation capacity of each batch has been enhanced from half train to the whole train, with the efficiency of locomotive pickup and delivery being markedly improved in Xingang. For Xinsha Phase II project, investment in loading and unloading equipment will increase, container filling capacity will be improved, and 35-ton open-top grain container filling will be performed on a regular basis through process transformation, so as to meet the incremental demand for "bulk-to-container" customer business. As a result, railway logistic capacity on the east coast of Guangzhou Port has been raised to 200,000 TEUs as a recent goal. (Text|Cai Jibo and Li Boya   Picture|Port Media, Li Yumin and Fan Jinping)
