Guangzhou Port Has Taken Over the Railway Operation of Nansha Port Station for a “Full Month”, with Handling Volume Reaching a Record High (Picture)


 
October 31 was the day to mark the "full-month" operation of Nansha Port Station by Guangzhou Port. According to statistics, the number of loading and unloading trucks in the first month of the integrated operation of Nansha Port Station exceeded 6,200, hitting a record high, and the management improvement has achieved initial results. It is also reported that the container volume completed by Guangzhou Port's sea-rail transport from January to October has been more than the total volume of last year, with a year-on-year increase of 34%, and this continues to maintain a good incremental momentum.
 
Nansha Port Station in Official Integrated Operation
 
With the integrated operation of railway platforms and port areas, the production process can be effectively sorted out and optimized, and the platform operation can be efficiency improved. As early as the end of 2022, Nansha Port South Station had been handed over to Guangzhou Port Company Limited for integrated operation. Since such handover, Guangzhou Port has continuously promoted the integrated production organization of sea-rail transport, setting handling records month by month. In August of this year, the volume of sea-rail transport exceeded 34,000 TEUs.
 
Since this year, China Railway Guangzhou Group Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Nansha Port Railway Co., Ltd. and Guangzhou Port Company Limited have held consultations for several times and actively planned the integrated operation mode of Nansha Port Station on the basis of learning from the successful experience of integrated operation of Nansha Port South Station. On October 1, the three parties signed the Integrated Service Agreement for Freight Business at Freight Yard of Nansha Port Station of Guangzhou Nansha Port Railway. Since October 1, core businesses of Nansha Port Station, such as station operation, freight organization, freight yard management and handling operations, have been officially handed over to Guangzhou Port Company Limited for integrated operation and management, and this has become another important measure for “Port-Railway” cooperation to further deepen the integration and mutual promotion.
 
Channel Extension to Strengthen the Inland Market Tension
 
Since this year, Guangzhou Port has continuously improved its grid marketing layout, dispatched professional teams to penetrate into the local market, successfully held promotion meetings for clients and train launching ceremonies in Nanchang, Xiangyang, Meizhou, etc., set up 2 new inland outlets, opened 3 new normalized trains, put 2 sea-rail trains into trial operation, and newly laid out 2 inland markets in Liuzhou and Nanning, Guangxi. Since the second half of the year, there were many new actions taken one after another for the sea-rail transport. In July 2024, the international “Hunan-Guangdong-Africa” (Zhuzhou-Nansha) sea-rail inter-modal train with designated points in the whole process was opened up. In October, the first sea-rail inter-modal train in cities (Zengcheng West - Nansha) was put into trial operation. In November, the first train as export railway operating plan in the direction of Chongqing-Guangzhou (Chongqing-Nansha) was open for transportation.
 
By continuously enriching the inland outlet and connecting line, and further deepening the sea-rail transport channel between inland areas and Guangzhou Port to link the world, Guangzhou Port's market influence in inland areas has continued to increase.
