New Breakthrough! Guangzhou Port Group's First Cross-border E-CNY Settlement Is Successfully Implemented

Recently, under the guidance of the Guangdong Branch of the People's Bank of China and the Finance Committee Office of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee, Nansha Container Terminal Branch (Nansha Phase III) under Guangzhou Port Group has joined hands with Construction Bank, Cybershipping and Safetrans Line and cooperated with them closely to promote the successful implementation of Guangzhou Port Group's first cross-border e-CNY settlement. This move not only marks a significant progress for Guangzhou Port Group in the pilot work of cross-border e-CNY B-end settlement, but is also the first cross-border e-CNY remittance implemented by a Guangzhou municipal state-owned enterprise, bringing a new breakthrough to the cross-border e-CNY application field in Guangzhou.

In this settlement scenario, in addition to providing high-quality port services for Hong Kong customers, Nansha Phase III also easily transferred funds into domestic e-CNY wallets through Multi-CBDC Bridge, achieving 24/7 synchronous settlement of cross-border transactions. This not only greatly improves the timeliness of cross-border payments and simplifies complex settlement processes, but also builds a fast channel for cross-border settlement and enriches the cross-border application scenarios of e-CNY.

Since the launch and promotion of the application of e-CNY in June of this year, Guangzhou Port Group, in collaboration with such institutions as China Construction Bank, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and Bank of Communications, has actively promoted comprehensive financial business application scenarios such as “port + e-CNY”. Currently, the cumulative amount of its e-CNY settlement transactions has exceeded 1 billion yuan, and the number of its transactions has exceeded 2,500. The Group has successfully opened 86 corporate e-CNY wallets for its headquarters and subsidiaries registered in Guangzhou, and officially launched the e-CNY settlement function for the Guangzhou Port “Online Business Hall” mini program and completed 98 transactions through the mini program. It has also opened up cross-border e-CNY settlement channels and broken through the first settlement business, basically covering e-CNY settlement in all channels, achieving the goal of fully integrating e-CNY into multiple scenarios such as port logistics and diversified businesses, thereby providing more convenient, safer and more efficient financial support services for customers.
